The National Border Collie Association llc explains rules and policies and is herein referred to as NBCA or National Border Collie Association.
  1. Anyone using National Border Collie Association LLC registration services must abide by all current National Border Collie Association LLC rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures, To register a dog or litter of puppies, the applicant must be a member of the National Border Collie Association LLC. Members have access to all registration services, database services, calendars of events, and health information pertaining to Border Collies.
  2. The dam of any litter eligible for registration with the NBCA must first be registered with the National Border Collies Association LLC. The sire of the litter must be registered with the National Border Collie Association LLC or another NBCA recognized registration association. If both the sire and dam are owned by the breeder of the litter, both parents must be registered with the National Border Collie Association LLC.
  3. Those with litters advertised as eligible for registration with the NBCA are responsible for submitting the proper litter registration application in a timely manner.
  4. A dog which is already registered with an alternate registry recognized by the NBCA is eligible for registration with the National Border Collie Association. The dog’s owner must submit the proper registration form, as well as a clear copy of the current registration with current fees. Dogs currently registered by the American Kennel Club or Continental Kennel Club must provide a video of said dog actively engaged/working/controlling livestock/poultry. Chasing animals is not suitable. The dog must be clearly and actively engaged in attempting to work with and herd the livestock/poultry. It is at the sole discretion of the NBCA whether a video meets requirements.
  5. National Border Collie Association llc accepts litter and individual dog registration applications for processing and issues registration certificates/pedigrees based upon the accuracy of the information submitted by the registration applicant. NBCA accepts no liability for any inaccurate, false, or fraudulent information submitted on registration applications.
    1. NBCA reserves the rights to refuse registration to any person or to revoke or suspend NBCA membership privileges, without refund, of any member who is convicted of a crime of cruelty to animals in any state, province, or country.
    2. NBCA reserves the rights to refuse registration to any person or to revoke or suspend NBCA membership privileges, without refund, of any member who acts in a manner that NBCA deems unethical, fraudulent, or dishonest.
    3. NBCA reserves the right to investigate any member to insure compliance with NBCA registration rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Members determined to be at fault of violating any of NBCA’s registration rules, guidelines, policies, or procedures are responsible for all fees incurred during NBCA’s investigation, including, but not limited to: DNA testing, or any other testing and travel conducted by the NBCA.
    4. NBCA reserves the rights to refuse registration to any person or to revoke or suspend NBCA membership privileges, without refund, of any member who refuses to cooperate with or hinders in any way an investigation conducted the NBCA or refuses to reimburse NBCA investigation fees as described above.
  6. National Border Collie Association registration applicants, members and certificate holders acknowledge that all NBCA registration applications and certificates of registration/pedigrees (once issued) remain the property of NBCA and must be surrendered upon demand. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of each dog/owner/breeder to notify NBCA of any change in ownership. When transferring ownership of an NBCA registered dog, the previous owner must sign and date the certificate/pedigree. The new owner must fill out the new owner section with name and address and submit with proper transfer fee back to the NBCA.
  7. In cases of questioned parentage of any NBCA registered dog or applicant for registration, National Border Collie Association, will recognize and act upon the results of DNA testing to determine the parentage of any dog(s) in question. The DNA testing shall be conducted by an approved testing facility at the expense of the part or parties contesting or challenging the parentage. All owners/breeders of NBCA registered dogs agree to submit their dogs for DNA testing at the request of the NBCA and agree to abide by the results of said tests.
  8. If any member initiates court proceedings to challenge any disciplinary decision or action made by the NBCA, and does not prevail in such litigation by the recovery of all relief requested, the Respondent shall be liable to the National Border Collie Association for its attorney’s fees and other expenses incurred by virtue of the litigation.
  9. A dog whose registration has been revoked by the NBCA may not be listed as the sire/dam of any new litters or transferred to a new owner. The registration for a dog shall be revoked by NBCA where it is determined that:
    1. DNA testing proves the dog to be of a different parentage than that of represented on the dog’s registration application. Or
    2. False, inaccurate, fraudulant, or questionable information has been discovered with respect to the dog’s registration application. Or
    3. NBCA requests DNA testing or pictures of a dog in question and the owner does not comply.
  10. Registration applications submitted by two co-owners will be registered in both owners names. Both co-owners must be members of the NBCA to register litters together. Co-owners have equal registration rights within the National Border Collie Association llc.
  11. Names of dogs registered with the National Border Collie Association must not exceed X characters including spaces and punctuation marks between words. Furthermore, names of dogs that NBCA determines to be objectionable, including but not limited to names determined to be obscene or foul shall not be permitted.
